WESTPOLE AND CFL: DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION ON TRACK

THE CHALLENGE
With around 5,200 employees, CFL is a pillar of public transport in Luxembourg and beyond its borders. Faced with a large flow of internal and external documents, the company was confronted with a major organisational challenge. Quite clearly, the company needed an innovative solution to modernize its document processes and to initiate the transition to a paperless organization.
The Luxembourg National Railway Company (CFL) is undertaking an ambitious digital transformation, in partnership with WESTPOLE, to integrate the IRISNext solution for electronic management of documents. This project aims to modernise CFL’s document management by centralising and securing legally binding documents, while improving their accessibility and regulatory compliance. Thanks to this transition to a paperless environment, the employees benefit from a better organisation of document flows, a reduction of risks linked to paper documents and improved operational efficiency.
THE SOLUTION
The implementation of IRISNext, which is robust and scalable, also enables secure and interconnected electronic archiving with the Luxembourg National Archives. WESTPOLE is supporting CFL throughout the project, ensuring a gradual deployment and adapted technical support. With over 500 active users already and the ambition to expand to all 5,500 employees, this digitalisation is part of a process of continuous innovation. The future integration of automation tools, such as electronic signature (already being produced) and AI, will further strengthen the efficiency and reliability of CFL’s document system.
Cédric Paint, WESTPOLE’s Country Sales Director Luxembourg, added: “IRISNext is more than just a system for document management. It also enables documents to be securely structured, validated and archived. We’ve successfully customised it, turning the system into a genuine digital safe that guarantees the integrity and authenticity of stored information.”
THE BENEFITS
This collaboration led to the smooth integration and fast adoption of IRISNext by the users. Following its gradual deployment, IRISNext has already been adopted by over 500 employees working on the platform, mainly in railway infrastructure management. The goal is to extend its use to all 5,199 of CFL’s employees. Thanks to the adoption of IRISNext, CFL has succeeded in optimizing its document processes, bringing these key advantages.
